According to ESPN.com, Memphis freshman point guard Derrick Rose has a “stomach ailment that forced him to miss media sessions Sunday, but will play in the national championship game against Kansas” tonight. Rose apparently received treatment from trainers during the media session, which probably just included giving the kid a couple Imodium ADs or some Pepto Bismol.
“He eats Gummy Bears and Starburst for breakfast, and Twizzlers and Honey Buns for dinner. That’s why his stomach hurts,” teammate Chris Douglas-Roberts said. “We tell Derrick the whole year, ‘Stop eating so many Gummy Bears and Sour Straws.’ But he can’t. … Nobody eats Gummy Bears more than him.”
Rose, who is expected to be a top 2 pick in this year’s NBA draft, has yet to say whether he is leaving school early, which is a decision many are expecting shortly after the season ends tonight, whether Memphis wins or loses.
