Joba Chamberlain took the first loss of his career last night, allowing an RBI single to Joe Crede in the bottom of the ninth, allowing the White Sox to take home a 7-6 victory. Yankees rookie pitcher Phil Hughes started the game, but was taken out after the second inning due to an extended rain delay. I went to sleep at 11:20 EST last night and the game was only in the fifth inning.
Bobby Abreu and Melky Cabrera each contributed two RBI in the losing effort, with Cabrera hitting his fourth home run of the year. He is now half way towards his total from last year and we aren't even out of the month of April.
Chamberlain had not taken a loss in his first 26 major league career appearances, but was unable to hold onto the lead last night. Scientists are still researching whether last night was in fact a full moon and not April 20th, as the lunar calendar showed. Religious leaders across the glove are also debating whether God simply took the night off after a long trip to the United States with the Pope last week.
